Walford Mill Craft Centre

mill
Walford Mill Crafts is a converted mill situated only a quarter of a mile north of Wimborne in a quiet riverside setting. The Centre runs a programme of exhibitions and also offers the best in contemporary craft work by local and national makers in the shop. There are craftspeople working on-site all of whom have work for sale and are happy to take commissions. Walford Mill also runs adult and children?s classes throughout the year. Our licensed Bistro is available for lunches and light refreshments. The Mill has an adjacent car park and there are partial facilities for visitors with disabilities and pushchairs.

What Have We Got To Offer Families?

Walford Mill Crafts organises various events throughout the year that gives families a chance to have a day out and enjoy themselves together. Every year the Centre holds special one-day cultural diversity events, which are free for all family. These events are both entertaining and educational. So far the countries we have hosted are Turkey, West Africa, China, India and this year the Caribbean! We host theatrical events in our courtyard every summer, which also welcomes families. There are workshops run at the Mill for both adults and children all year around and during school holidays in August we run children’s workshops every weekday throughout the month. As Walford Mill Crafts is an educational trust, we organise and run projects with schools and finished work made by students features in some exhibitions at the Mill. We are constantly organising events for children, adults and families. Please contact us to find out what other opportunities we offer.

Useful information

The Mill is only partially accessible for people with disabilities and pushchairs at the moment. However, Walford Mill Crafts has received funding from the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts programme to be used towards our exciting and ambitious plans to improve Walford Mill and its facilities. The project aims significantly to enhance the Centre by making planned structural changes and upgrading equipment to the key sales, display and route areas. We will be refurbishing old display units and the lighting in the shop and making all areas of the shop and mezzanine workshop fully accessible for everyone, particularly people with disabilities and pushchairs.?
